Ahoy! I’ve been mastering a bunch of great songs recently, so I thought I’d post about them here. First up - my buddy Sam Barnes of Boy Azooga fame has released this beautiful first single single via Rose Parade Recording Co, which I had the honour of working on.

Sam is so talented - writing, performing, producing and mixing this beautiful song himself. More people need to be shouting about his talents, which I’m sure they will in time. Until then, this song speaks for itself.

The song also features the talents of David Newington on drums, Kirsten Miller (cello) and Joe Northwood (flute & clarinet), with cover artwork by Holly Jones.

Give it a listen below via the Bandcamp or YouTube streams, or click here and see a list of steaming platforms, such as Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, Deezer (whatever the hell that is), etc.Or, ideally you can BUY it here, via Bandcamp!

Boy Azooga x Jim Sullivan - UFO

Ah - a new Boy Azooga tune I’m so glad to share with you. Recorded, produced and mixed by myself - and mastered by the ever talented (and hilarious) Guy Davie at Electric Mastering. We recorded it back in the blazing summer of last year (2019) - you can see some of the (slightly crappy) session shots in this Instagram post, if you’re interested.

It’s a cover/adaptation of the Jim Sullivan classic ‘UFO’ and the video (created by On Par Productions) and is both wonderful and fantastic. Here’s what Davey had to say about the track:

Hey hope you are all doing ok in this uncertain time. Feels weird to be releasing anything right now but we hope this brings a little joy and escapism! Here’s a video we made a couple months back for our cover of the Jim Sullivan classic ‘UFO’.

Got introduced to the record by Tom Friend of the amazing Friendly Records a couple years ago. It has become one of my favourite albums since. Hope we did it some justice! Would like to dedicate this version to Pete, safe voyage on your UFO

You can listen to the song in all the usual places - Apple Music, Spotify, or check the video below.

With love as always,

New Boy Azooga - Do The Standing Still

Happy to reveal the latest Boy Azooga track that I recorded/produced/mixed and mastered (ooh la laa) - it’s a cover of The Table’s, comic book dead body dance floor classic ‘Do The Standing Still’.

The video (by Toby Cameron) features Kliph Scurlock, a polar bear and some confused members of the public. Have a good day. Long live The Table.

Catch the Azoogas on their UK and US tour on these dates - I’ll be at the Scala gig tomorrow (Weds 17th Oct).

With love and Azooga,

Behind The Scenes - Mastering Boy Azooga's '1, 2 Kung Fu' @ Electric Mastering

Where have you been? Busy I imagine. Me too, me too. I just checked my calendar and saw the date and remembered - to the day, it’s the one year anniversary of the official completion of the debut Boy Azooga album. By ‘official’ completion, I mean the final step of the music part of the process - the mastering - by Guy Davie at Electric Mastering, exactly one year ago today. How times flies!

I remembered that I had some short behind the scenes videos of the process, so what better time to post them? Twas a great day, can’t wait to get in back there again….

And just one year one and the band have a tour of the U.S. lined up for this November! You can find their live dates at boyazooga.co.uk/

Exciting stuff…

Azooga Playlisted on Radio 1 & 6MUSIC

'Face Behind Her Cigarette' was play-listed on Radio 1 last week (well, 10 days ago!) - it's currently in a pretty constant rotation on Radio 6Music. That's cool.

Huge thanks to Huw Stephens, Bethan Elfyn and Adam Walton @ the BBC and anyone who's listened to it and enjoyed it. Or even if you haven't enjoyed it - if you sat through it and didn't even like it, then I'm even more thankful.

Just for the heck of it, go watch the video again - because if a little is good, more must be better? Follow Azooga here:

Toodles! ✌🏼

Boy Azooga's First Single - Face Behind Her Cigarette

Here’s the first Boy Azooga single out on Heavenly Recordings - Face Behind Her Cigarette - I produced / mixed / engineered this track - it was mastered by Guy Davie @ Electric Mastering. The video was made by Toby @ On Par Productions and was actually shot in space, which is mad. Hope you like it x

P.S. Just found out it was Huw Stephen's 'Track of the Week' on Radio 1 last night 🤘🏼

P.P.S Special thanks to the wonderful Steffan Pringle who engineered the drums with us on this album! That man knows how to tune a snare.

Boy Azooga Sign to Heavenly Recordings

Davey Newington - one of my favourite humans on the planet - and his band Boy Azooga have signed to the mighty HEAVENLY RECORDINGS. I produced / mixed / engineered the album - it took years to craft, recorded in stolen moments and lots of late night sessions. We recorded, re-recorded, and re-worked until the Boy Azooga sound was formed. When wrapping up the album, we had a few talks and figured out a goal - and then a plan - to try to get the album into the ears the folks at Davey's dream label - Heavenly. Thankfully, they loved it. A special, huge thank you to Aimee-Jade-Hayes for putting the two of us in touch, all those years ago. Love you! ❤️

The album will be out early in 2018 - I think it’s really a rather amazing and I'm really proud of him. The band are so incredible live - amazing musicians - Davey on Vocals and Guitar, Daf Davies on Drums, Sam Barnes on Bass and Guitar, and Dylan Morgan on Keyboards and Guitar. All of them on backing vox. All of these guys can play approx 43 instruments and they're better than you at all of them.

There's a lot more coming that we can't wait to show you. Onwards to album II 🤘🏼🤘🏼
